17,000 Ground Mounted Solar Panels

The solar panels were installed on a former turkey farm to supply power to the "Solar Shares" SMUD program. K12 Energy founders were responsible for making this project possible by leading the engineering, construction and procurement of materials.

Power to the Grid

The system was designed exclusively to send electricity to the SMUD grid, like a traditional power plant.

Thin Film Technology

The solar panels were manufacturer in the U.S. by First Solar one of the very few manufacturers of CDTE solar panels in the world

Project Management

Most of the construction was completed in 30 days which required a tigh management of the schedule with over 80 workers at the job site.
